2013 Indicator 8 Parent Survey

Each year, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education works with Boston Public Schools to survey parents in selected schools.  The purpose of the survey is to determine how well each school is doing at such things as partnering with parents, helping students to transition from grade to grade or onto adult life, and for providing training for families in areas of interest.

This on-line survey is for parents of students ages 3-22 in both regular education and special education who attend one of the schools listed below.  The link to this survey is:

We would like to encourage you to complete this survey as soon as possible.  This survey is part of the State Performance Plan Indicators; a monitoring tool mandated by IDEA to ensure that local districts are working closely with families and parents. Each district is evaluated based on both the participation rate and the responses to the questions on the survey.  The results of the survey will ultimately be posted on the Department of Education’s website once the results have been compiled.

We consider our responsibility to partner effectively with families a priority of our work and would like to hear from as many parents as possible regarding how they think we’re doing with partnering and fostering stronger relationships with our parents.  To that end, we are hoping you participate in the survey and respond to the questions before the survey closes on Friday, March  29th, 2013.  If you are a parent/guardian needing assistance reading and interpreting this survey in a language other than English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian/Creole or Vietnamese, please contact the Office of Special Education and Student Services at 617-635-8599.

If you have specific questions about the survey, please contact Barbara Dee at the Department of Education at 781-338-3382.

  1. It’s really great to see the Boston SPED PAC’s impressive new web site!

Congratulations to all the parents children and BPS staff who are making this happen.

A year ago I looked for Boston PAC info and couldn’t find anything. I’m very encouraged to see the Boston SPEDPAC come together so effectively. I look forward to learning how to help children special needs from your group and I’ll do whatever I can to support you.

    Good luck!
