Transition Planning for Students with Chronic Mental Health Challenges

Description: When a student is chronically depressed or severely anxious, it can feel impossible to identify future goals and have a clear postsecondary vision. Nevertheless, transition assessment, planning, and services are both relevant and required for the student. NESCA transition specialists will discuss assessment methodologies for students who are too distressed for traditional testing. We will also focus on the types of recommendations and services that are most critical for students with chronic mental health challenges, including how to prioritize between mental health treatment and other skill development.

Presented by: Kelley Challen, Ed.M., CAS., NESCA Director of Transition Services, and Lyndsay Wood, OTD, OTR/L, NESCA Occupational Therapist; Transition Specialist
